How Spinal Decompression Works
Decompression machines are specialized, motorized traction devices that allow your practitioner to isolate specific spinal discs for treatment. They work by gently stretching the targeted areas of your spine in 3 dimensions of rotation and flexion
Settings are customized to your specific condition and treatment. Dr. Kerr can control the amount of stretch (load), the quantity of stretch/relax stages, the amount of time it takes to reach each peak stretch/relax stage and many other settings.
The session can be personalized for your age, weight, and condition and to adjust your treatments as your results are tracked.
The stretching creates negative tension inside your spinal disc and allows the herniated or protruded disc material to be pulled back into the disc and into alignment. This also helps promote the movement of water, oxygen and nutrient-rich fluids into the discs so they can heal. The relaxation stages enable the body to stay relaxed and therefore maximize the load (stretch) and the effectiveness of the treatment.
